TRENDING LOOKS OF FILM STARS COSTUME & MAKEUP.

Rani Mukerjee (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna)

Apart from the dramatic story, this movie is also known for Rani Mukerjee’s OG bridal look. She wore an embroidered lehenga with green borders and for her bridal blouse, she wore a short Kurti style top. The classic combination of green and red is what we loved the most. The gorgeous lehenga was beautifully adorned with green jewellery and looks like we have bookmarked her bridal look for 2020 weddings!

Kareena Kapoor Khan (3 Idiots)

Just like her quirky character, her wedding outfit was also off-beat. Kareena Kapoor wore an Anarkali with hues of orange and red. For her jewellery, she was seen with a raani haar and neckpiece with gemstones. But her simple and minimal nath stole our hearts. Kareena has given us a number of iconic looks over the years. Be it the glamorous and chic Poo in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham or the quintessential runaway bride avatar in 3 idiots. She has nailed all her looks and made them go down in history. Ditching the traditional hues of red for her big day, Kareena was decked up in rust coloured Anarkali that had detailed layering for the neckline. For jewellery she opted for a statement choker. She had her eyes lined with dark black kohl to draw attention and the rest of her makeup was kept rather minimal.

Kareena Kapoor Khan (Veerey Di Wedding)

We still can’t get enough of her looks from Veerey Di Wedding film. But what surprised us the most was when Kareena’s character in the movie chose a yellow off-shoulder lehenga with tasseled beads for d-day. This bridal look is #goal for every millennial bride. This is a customised outfit by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla paired beautifully with baby breath dupatta and dewy makeup was spot on for the wedding day! It made headlines for its stunning costumes, but what stood out was Kareena’s wedding ensemble in the film, designed by ace designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. The outfit was even more charming as it was a vintage 25 year old piece. It was an embellished lehenga in a yellow colour and had an off-shoulder silhouette. A few modern touches were given to it, especially to the dupatta. However, the overall vintage feel was retained.

Aishwarya Rai (Jodha Akbar)

Period Films always have impeccable costuming to be adhered to. The film is set in the Mughal Era where Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played the role of Jodhaa, a Rajasthani princess. For those who would prefer warm shades for their bridal wear, Aishwarya’s look is perfect from this film where the warm-hued ensembles are complemented with a heavily embroidered dupatta. Being a princess and then a queen, a lot of heavy jewellery was worn to finish this look. The makeup was kept minimal because of the heavy jewellery and lehengas worn.

This film got an amazing response from the audience. And not only for the grand sets, but it took the limelight for its phenomenal outfits. The royalty was perfectly shown with the outfits and jewellery. If you are an OTT bride, re-create her bridal look.

Katrina Kaif (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan)

If you are a millennial bride, here is a bridal look of Katrina Kaif where she is wearing a quirky bridal lehenga. She has paired her embellished gold blouse with a multicoloured skirt and the hues of pink and red are giving us the perfect minimal vibe. Oh! Also, her simple jewellery is making the bridal look so beautiful.

Anushka Sharma (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)

And if you are a Muslim bride, take some inspo from Anushka aka Alizeh. This gold + red combination is an ideal choice for you. And the Kundan jewelry with green pearls is ‘sone pe suhaga’. Also, don’t forget to add a passa to grace the look. The newest mommy in the block has entertained us with beautiful performances over the years. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is one of the biggest blockbusters of her career and her character was deeply loved by her fans. One scene from the film where she is dressed in her wedding ensemble left us awestruck with its beauty. The actress was seen wearing a traditional lehenga and the finishing was in different hues of red, pink, and gold. It was a heavy outfit that had a lot of intricate thread work details and her choli had long sleeves. The dupatta was of a sheer fabric and added a lot more elegance to her overall ensemble.

Anushka sharma (sultan)

It is safe to say that Anushka Sharma has played the role of a bride quite a number of times in her films. Sultan was another blockbuster that saw Anushka dressed up in bridal wear. This film had a nikaah taking place where Anushka played the role of a Haryanvi bride. Her outfit was minimal and stunning with detailed zardosi work. It was a classic piece of chikankari bridal outfit that suited her character well. The ivory shade of the outfit went very well with the minimal approach to her bridal look in this film. The dupatta had Gota work on it with metallic fringes towards the end. For jewellery, her look was complemented with simple gold and green bangles, kundan paasa, and a nosepiece.

Deepika Padukone (Chennai Express)

We got some #fashioninspo for the South Indian bride too. And it’s from none other than our own Meenaamma. By draping the Kanjeevaram saree with simple jewellery, Deepika Padukone looked no less than a queen. Ditching the long braid, she chose a bun with lots of flowers that looks super elegant and bridal!

Deepika  Padukone (finding fanny)

Deepika makes it twice on our list, this time for her white wedding look. She shows us that you don’t need heavy makeup to look good on your big day. For this look, Padukone looked effortlessly gorgeous with rosy pink lips, eyeliner on her upper lids and a bit of blush on her cheeks. With no major contouring or highlighting, she shows us that the ‘less is more’ ideology can apply to your wedding day as well. This wedding makeup look is perfect for the minimalistic bride.

Kajol (kuch kuch hota hai)

Kajol in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. While every bride wears gold on her wedding day, Kajol’s character took it to a whole new level and totally slayed with subtle gold eyeshadow, voluminous lashes, a thin streak of eyeliner and gold lipgloss. She completed her look with highlighter on the high points of her face. While Kajol pulled off this makeup look, we don’t recommend going for a full gold painted face. If you want to incorporate this colour in your bridal makeup, try using it on only one feature.

Madhuri Dixit (Hum Aapke Hain Kaun)

If you are a 90s babe, recreate this look from that era. Here, Madhuri wore all-gold lehenga. She also wore an aad necklace with oversized earrings. And her unique mathapatti graced the whole bridal look. In fact, the bridal look was complemented with red roses on hair that makes it ideal for a millennial bride who is getting married soon!

ALIA BHATT (2 STATES)

Red is the traditional colour for any Indian Bride. Though the fashion trends have changed and now there are many more colour palettes like pastels that have come into the picture, red still remains a classic. Alia Bhatt was a vision to behold in her 2 States bridal outfit. She wore a traditional Kanjeevaram sari. With a palette of vivid colour like red and orange, her bridal wear looked bewitching. She wore simple golden jewellery with it that added to the charm.

ALIA BHATT (RAAZI)

Raazi was set in the era of 1970’s. Hence the costuming had to be done keeping the fashion seen during that era. This film also had a nikkah ceremony where the bride played by Alia Bhatt wore a red sharara set with brocade detailing over the bodice. She had a tulle dupatta paired with it of a very soothing green shade. Jewellery was also kept minimal as she finished her look with a pearl raani haar, a dainty choker, and a minimal nose ring. Alia went for soft kohled eyes and a creamy red shade for her lips.

Sonam kapoor (Dolly ki doli)

While there were many bridal looks for Sonam in Dolly ki Doli, the one that stood out the most was when she played an elegant Muslim bride. She let her eyes do the talking with metallic lids, false lashes and dark eyeliner on her lower lash line. Highlighter and a pinkish nude lipstick were all she needed to complete this bridal makeup look. If you’re looking to go all out without looking tacky when it comes to your makeup on your wedding day, then this is the way to go
